You are my why.
As a nurse for 20 years, I've spent most of my career in a high-risk, fast-paced maternity and NICU nursing units. I know burnout. I saw it in many of my surrounding nurses, and that was before Covid.
I'm known for my happiness and resilience at work- and I want to share exactly how I do it.
Nurses deserve more than survival. You deserve to thrive.
I’m a 40-something single mom with debt, no house, no real savings account, and a credit score that could use a little love. I’ve never been married, and I haven’t had a partner in years—and yet, I’m one of the happiest people I know. At the hospital where I work, I’m known for my positive attitude and unwavering joy.***
One day, my manager asked me how I manage to stay so happy and show up to every shift with the same energy. I told her, “I work my happy like a job.” She loved that—and asked me to teach my practices to our unit. And just like that, Work Your Happy was born.
Now, I’m on a mission to help nurses across the country BEAT THE BURNOUT that’s rampant in our profession. Using evidence-based tools, I want to help us rewrite the chart and make self-care a priority. Our mental and physical health have been compromised for far too long—it’s time to change that. It’s time to care for ourselves first.
